Main Components of On Grid Solar Systems

Solar panels
Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity through a process called the photovoltaic effect. During this process, solar panels collect electrons from the sun’s light in the form of direct current (DC) electricity, which then pass through the inverter to convert into usable AC electricity.

On-Grid Inverter:
On-grid inverter converts the DC power to AC power. This is one of the essential components of PV system to inter connect with the present-day power sector. There are various types of inverter available in the market whose rating is from small kVA to larger kVA. The present available inverters are coming with MPPT enabled and wider input Vdc range.

 

Monitoring technology:
Monitoring technology is able to display information ranging from energy generated by the solar panels, to real-time data, to immediate fault detection and troubleshooting, to energy yield data over a set amount of time. A comprehensive Monitoring system can benefit the system operator to better understand the way the solar energy system is operating, (and measures that can be taken to better increase yields, productivity, maintenance and other variables) in real time or over the course of the systems lifespan.

 

SOLAR MOUNTING SYSTEM
Solar mounting system attaches the solar panels array to either the ground or rooftop for residential and commercial applications. For rooftop of industrial sheds installations, a variety of frame designs are used depending on whether the system is mounted on pitched or flat roof. These structures help panels to rest com- portably, prevent from being damaged more importantly position them at precise tilt angle to harness maximum sun’s energy.

Wiring :
Wiring acts to ensure other solar energy components are interconnected, and can pass energy from one device onto another. PV Wire is commonly used to move energy from the Solar Modules to the Inverters, and then be transformed to be sent for another product within the photovoltaic array supply chain.
 


Operation
A photovoltaic system operates to generate electricity by converting sunlight into electricity through a process called the photovoltaic effect. Whenever the incident light energy on the photovoltaic module is enough to produce electrons, then DC power is generated at the output terminals of the PV array and then is fed to the power converters which in turn helps in DC to AC conversion. The AC energy can be used directly to electrical loads, or it can be supplied to utility grid by means net metering facility to be stored in the utility grid and can be used later when the photovoltaic system in not generating (during night time for example).
